"Dear Friends of PIH, When PIH started in Haiti, we promised to use all of the means at our disposal to work side-by-side with those in need. Nearly 25 years later we have made similar promises in 11 more countries around the world. We are opening a new District Hospital in Butaro, Rwanda. Our orphan care program in Lesotho just expanded from 8 to 78 children. We are accompanying 110 HIV+ patients in the Boston area. And we've hired 222 new Haitian community health workers post-earthquake. Each of these initiatives--critical extensions of our mission to provide services to the poor--represents a new promise we've made to a new community of people, a moral obligation we need your support to fulfill. " |
